Block Breaker Deluxe 2 smashes onto phones

Back with another one of those block-rocking mobile games

Block Breaker Deluxe 2 smashes onto phones

When it comes to breaking blocks with balls bounced off bats, Gameloft's Block Breaker Deluxe is the undisputed king on mobile - not to mention spin-offs for iPod and N-Gage.

So it's no surprise to see the publisher releasing a sequel, which has been suitably buffed up for 2008. And we mean buffed up: the graphics have been given a total overhaul, with swizzier backgrounds and, apparently, better explosions.

Of course, there's an all-new set of levels too, as well as new power-ups, and new bosses to battle. That was one of the previous game's innovations - the chance to see off a boss every so often - so it's good to see that it's returned.

The game includes a level generator to provide infinite variety once you've completed the main game.

But most intriguingly, there's a multiplayer mode where two people play using the same handset. It could be the recipe for spilled pints and aggro on a night out in the pub, which has to be A Good Thing.

Assuming you're not the landlord, obviously. Anyway, click 'Track it' for an alert when we review the game.
