Beat Hazard 2, the arcade shooter powered by your favourite tunes, blasts off on iOS and Android today

| Beat Hazard 2

Beat Hazard 2 is a fast-paced arcade shooter with a neat premise. It gives you the chance to experience your favourite tunes like never before by incorporating their ebb and flow into the pace of its intense battles.

It's quite tricky to get a sense of how this works without giving it a go, so it's a very good thing indeed that the game has finally launched today for iOS and Android.

As you continue along on your adventure through space, you'll upgrade your ship and use music to enhance your devastating firepower. There are various weapon pickups to find throughout its levels, but you're still going to have to work around whatever song you happen to be playing along to.

One of its neatest features is the procedural generation of the boss ships. These are assembled based on the track you've picked. Likewise, each track will unlock a unique ship to try out, allowing for seemingly endless variations.

Harry reviewed developer Cold Beam Games' Beat Hazard Ultra all the way back in 2012, saying "a game whose major selling point isn't actually that important, Beat Hazard Ultra has a strong enough shooting mechanic to avoid any accusations of being a gimmick", before awarding it a very solid Silver Rating.

Beat Hazard 2 seems to build upon its predecessor's neat core premise while honing the gameplay experience across the board. It looks great, all told, and I definitely fancy giving it a go.

It's now available for purchase from over on the App Store and Google Play. Its iOS version is priced at $4.99, which is significantly less than its $18.99 price tag on Steam.
