Holy iOS spin-off, Batman!

Warner's beat-'em-up Batman Arkham City Lockdown for iPhone and iPad swoops onto the New Zealand App Store

A month after Batman: Arkham City touched down on home consoles across the planet, The Dark Knight emerges through the haze and smog of Gotham City and onto the New Zealand App Store in the form of Batman Arkham City Lockdown.

Developed by the team behind the resurrection of the Mortal Kombat series, NetherRealm Studios, this iPhone and iPad superhero adventure sees The Caped Crusader dishing out justice to the escaped Arkham inmates along rooftops and down murky alleys.

Fans of the Batman series can go one-on-one with iconic villains such as The Joker and Two-Face, as well as the Arkham City Lockdown-exclusive Deathstroke.

Go-go-gadgets

Back in the relative safety of the Batcave, you can upgrade Batman's arsenal of gizmos and gadgets, and change the appearance of Bruce Wayne's crime-fighting alter ego via a range of in-game skins.

If that wasn't enough to satiate your hunger for all things Bat, the developer has chucked in "tons of extra content", including access to a range of digitial comics.

Batman Arkham City Lockdown will be available from midnight this evening in the UK and US, priced £3.99 / $5.99. Please note that it's only compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, and iPad 1 and 2.
