Batman Arkham City Lockdown developer NetherRealm would 'definitely like to do additional iOS titles'

2011 was a good year for NetherRealm. Not only did the studio manage to successfully resurrect the floundering Mortal Kombat franchise, but it also found time to knock out its first iOS title.

Despite being a little too short and a touch repetitive, Batman Arkham City Lockdown for iPad did manage to capture the kinetic thrill of beating down a bizarrely costumed supervillian with your bare hands.

If you enjoyed NetherRealm's debut iOS effort, then we have some good news for you.

Speaking to GameSpot, the studio's creative director Ed Boon said NetherRealm would "definitely like to do additional iOS titles".

"We really want to diversify ourselves, and work on multiple formats, multiple types of games, not just Mortal Kombat games," Boon added.

However, with the PS Vita version of Mortal Kombat due in the spring, Boon was keen to assure readers that diversity doesn't mean abandoning its newly fostered fanbase.

"The Batman iOS game was kind of like us dipping our foot into that whole different types of games we do. We're going to continue in that direction, but I would be surprised if we never did a Mortal Kombat game again."

Phew. Almost broke into a sweat for a second there.
