Banjo-Kazooie – Grunty's Revenge

Banjo-Kazooie? Sounds more like the sort of musical instrument that Chas 'n' Dave or The Wurzels would play but it's actually the name of two characters in the latest game to be released for mobile phones. Banjo-Kazooie – Grunty's Revenge has been launched on O2 by In-Fusio this week and offers players to assume the role of Banjo, a cute brown bear, who must rescue Kazooie, his faithful feathered friend.

The wicked witch Gruntilda has captured Kazooie and cursed her; Banjo must battle his way through 5 different worlds and 15 levels on his quest, meeting weird and wonderful figures that either help him to find his buddy or put obstacles in his path. His mission is to collect magic pieces of a puzzle – called Jiggys in the game – which he needs to break the curse that keeps Kazooie behind bars. Banjo can acquire certain skills from the characters he meets along the way, such as swimming, climbing and fighting, which he can use to complete the mission. If you get lost there is always the mole to point them in the right direction. "With 'Banjo-Kazooie – Grunty's Revenge' we have made a giant leap in bringing the console gaming experience to the cell phone" comments Richard Moureaud, senior product manager at In-Fusio. Viewed from a birds-eye perspective, players must explore the landscape around them and interact with the other in-game characters and objects if they want to proceed. Much more than a simple platform game, it involves some serious thought at times to overcome the various puzzles and obstacles in your way. The game runs on JAVA, BREW, EGE, Java, and Windows Mobile and can be downloaded from O2 now. Look out for a review on Pocket Gamer soon!
