LoL: Wild Rift Rakan Champion Guide: Best build, items, and everything you need to know
Updated: July 27, 2021

In this League of Legends: Wild Rift Rakan guide you'll find everything you need to know about the champion, from his skills and how to allocate them to his build, skill combo, and runes. Here is what you will find in the Rakan guide below:

The Charmer, better known as Rakan in Wild Rift, is our next champion receiving a guide. This cool support unit is definitely a favourite among the pro players in League of Legends and a solo queue favourite as well - and what a better time to add the lover's duo to Wild Rift than now, around Valentine's Day?

Rakan is an amazing engage support, who provides shields and (some) heals to his allies but is mostly known for his flashy playstyle and his ability to turn any battle in his team's favor.

This champion's kit is not too difficult, but it's also not that beginner-friendly. You need to know exactly when and how to combo your skills, and recognise when is the best time to engage on the enemy players (without losing your life). But let's be honest - if you really want to play a good-looking support with a generally great kit that will have an impact at any stage of the game, then Rakan is definitely the best choice you could go for!

League of Legends: Wild Rift Rakan skills

Fey Feathers (Passive)

Rakan periodically gains a shield.

Gleaming Quill (Skill 1)

Flings a magical feather that deals magic damage. Striking a champion or epic monster enables Rakan to heal his allies.

Grand Entrance (Skill 2)

Dashes to a location, knocking up nearby enemies on arrival.

Battle Dance (Skill 3)

Flies to an allied champion granting them a shield. Can be re-cast for free for a short duration.

The Quickness (Skill 4 / Ultimate)

Gains movement speed, charming and dealing magic damage to enemies touched.

How to combo as Rakan

There are so many combos you could pull off as a Rakan player, it's not even funny. To start, you can use your skills both offensively and defensively - it all depends on the situation since Rakan is extremely mobile and you can use that to your advantage.

- Skill 4 (ultimate) -> Skill 2 -> Skill 3 (towards an ally)

This is a really basic combo of his, and you could consider this his main "engage combo". You will charm all enemies, basically immobilizing them (well, not really, more like "trapping" them) and then you'll quickly follow up with his Skill 2 to knock them up. That will allow your allies to deal plenty of damage and follow up with any crowd control they might have.

During team fights, this combo is one of the deadliest in-game, especially when paired with an Orianna or a Malphite, who provide their own (massive) crowd control.

- Skill 3 (to an ally in front) -> Skill 2 (on the enemy)

This would be Rakan's "ambush" combo, that many new players will not expect. It's a really powerful one, and you should take advantage of it every chance you get, especially when your enemy's Flash is on cooldown.

- Flash -> Skill 2

You can always surprise your enemies by casting Flash before Skill 2 - it will greatly increase the range you dash forward with Skill 2 (by the distance of Flash), and you can catch up with enemies that are really far away like this.

It's also a great (and unexpected) combo to cast when you know you are expecting a gank from your jungler or mid laner.

- Use Skill 4 (ultimate) to start team fights, to cancel enemy skills, or escape

Like I mentioned before, you can use Rakan's kit in a million different ways. For example, you can use the ultimate to start team fights, because it will give your team the edge in most situations.

If you see that an enemy Jhin or Miss Fortune start casting their ultimate skill next to you, for example, you could ultimate them to instantly cancel theirs. Of course, it all depends on your positioning and theirs, so don't go diving under enemy towers simply to cancel their ults!

Lastly, you can use The Quickness to escape an enemy champion that's chasing you and gaining speed rather quickly. If you don't have Flash or would rather not burn it, then using the ultimate for a boost of movement speed might be a wise choice (though should be a last resort as you will be without it whilst it's on cooldown).

- Use Skill 3 to gain extra distance or to dodge skills

As weird as it might seem, your shield might not always be there for shielding purposes. Instead, you can use it to dash to an ally who is in front, and from there you can continue with your Skill 2 or Skill 4 -> Skill 2 combo.

Also, during the laning phase, don't be afraid to use Skill 3 to dash to your laner if you are trying to dodge some incoming skills - consider it a "faux-Flash" (probably not what your laner would like to see, but hey - even supports need some "support" sometimes).

- Don't rely too much on Skill 1

Although Skill 1 provides "some" healing, it's really not that great. So, don't go ham on it expecting to get some crazy healing results, because chances are you won't see them.

What's the best order to level up the skills?

On Rakan, you want to max out your Skill 3 first, then Skill 2, and finally your Skill 1.

  • Level 1: Skill 3
  • Level 2: Skill 2
  • Level 3: Skill 1
  • Level 4: Skill 3
  • Level 5: Skill 4
  • Level 6: Skill 3
  • Level 7: Skill 3

Keep leveling Skill 3 until it's maxed, then focus on Skill 2, and lastly on Skill 1. Of course, whenever you can, you want to add 1 point into your Skill 4 (ultimate).

The best summoner spells

Exhaust: Exhausts the target enemy champion, reducing their movement speed by 20% and their damage dealt by 40% for 2.5 seconds.

Flash: Teleport a short distance forward or towards the aimed direction.

wild rift rakan - item build Boots Ionian Locket will be your main pick since Rakan needs all the cooldown reduction he can get.  Ionian Glory is great if you want some extra movement speed when catching up with fast enemies.  Ionian Stoneplate is another great option if you want to be even beefier!
