Indie developer Natsukashii Games has released its digital board game Flip Discs on the Google Play for Android store.

It is based on the real life board game Reversi (or Othello), but this time has a different kind of scoring system. In Flip Discs, instead of just capturing the highest amount of discs like you would in the former game, you must focus on getting discs with the highest number of corresponding points. Your final score is equal to the total points that all your discs amount to.

Flip Discs offers several ways to play the game, tailoring it to your liking. You choose to play as either light or dark and can be put up against the computer in a series of 1v1 bot matches, which also allow you to select one of three difficulties in case you find it a little easy or too hard. You may also play against a mate in a local multiplayer mode to put your skills to the test.

Here’s a trailer so you can find what the game has to offer. As you can see, there are options to switch between 3D and 2D modes, as well as being able to view what moves are available to you at the time. You can also undo a move if you’d prefer to try a different tactic.

Flip Discs uses Google Play Games to save your stats, unlock achievements, gain experience and earn places on the leaderboards, with an alternative in-game option available to see your stats against AI or other human players. You can download it now from the Google Play for Android store, where it’s a free to play title containing adverts.
