Bullet Hell Monday Finale is a trippy danmaku shmup out now for iOS and Android

Bullet Hell Monday Finale is developer Masayuki Ito's latest danmaku shooter, building upon the solid foundations laid by his earlier work. It offers no shortage of bullet hell shmup action, and it's launched today for iOS and Android.

While the genre isn't exactly known for being welcoming to newcomers, Finale aims to change that by opening up progression, offering difficulty modes, and allowing you to skip any section you find to be particularly tricky. The earlier levels have been designed to teach you the basics, easing you into the experience to avoid any potential frustrations.

Still, I wouldn't go into this expecting an easy time. Levels may start out simple enough, but before you know it, you'll be faced with seemingly impossible odds and many giant bosses.

Thankfully, more upgrade options will become available to you as you continue to progress through the chapters. You can, for example, boost the strength of your standard shots, the speed at which they travel, and more. If all else fails, it's perhaps time to start throwing out some bombs. There's no shame in trying to even the odds a little.

The Bullet Hell Monday series has been running since 2016, and we reviewed the first game at launch, calling it "a relentless shooter with a colourful aesthetic and screen-filling shmup action", before awarding it a strong Silver Rating.

Bullet Hell Monday Finale is now available for download as a free-to-play title from over on the App Store and Google Play. More info can be found on the game's official site. If you like what you see here, I'd advise that you also check out last year's Bullet Hell Monday Black, which focuses more on delivering a hard-as-nails shmup experience.
