Following a Closed Alpha earlier this year in selected territories, EVE: Echoes, the mobile spin-off to the ludicrously popular EVE Online, will be entering Open Beta in December on iOS and Android. So we'll finally be able to see how the game compares to its PC counterpart.

If you happen to be attending the EVE Vegas event in America's Playground that kicks off tomorrow, you'll be able to get hands-on with a demo of the beta version ahead of its December release. If not, December's not too long to wait right?

EVE: Echoes is a collaborative effort between mobile titans NetEase and original Eve Online devs, CCP. CCP will be making use of NetEase's NeoX graphics engine to create a huge open-world where players will be free to choose how they make their way in the galaxy.

It certainly sounds ambitious, particularly since they're claiming there'll be over 8000 solar systems, 100 types of ship and a plethora of different factions and empires. It will have the same player-driven economy that the PC version does too. This means any pilot you interact with will be a real person.

How you choose to interact with them will be entirely up to you. You can choose to be a pacifist trader, working with other players to create a strong economy and earn a reputation for being a great person to do business with. Alternatively, you can try and become an infamous combatant and gun down everyone you meet, though you could equally gain a notorious reputation for this approach as well.
