The Caseboy is a phone case that you can play retro games on
Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, and more
Of all the many, many handheld gaming devices we’ve covered here, the Caseboy has got to be one of the strangest. The basic idea is that it’s a phone case which doubles as a little gaming system for retro classics.
You can expect a total of 36 preinstalled games, most of which are actually pretty decent. Highlights include Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Super Contra, Bomberman, and Galaga. The battery is said to last for up to 4 hours, which is in keeping with devices like the Evercade.
The case charges through any universal Micro USB cable, though don’t expect one to come bundled in the box. I imagine most of us probably have at least a couple of these lying around the house anyway, so it’s not a huge deal.
The main draw here is obviously being able to play retro classics on your phone case, but the Caseboy also seems to offer decent protection for your device, with shock-absorbing silicone bumpers. At the moment, the case is only available for iOS devices, the full list of which you can check out on the Caseboy’s site.
As weird an idea as it is, I kinda like the look of the Caseboy. The current price of $29.99 seems reasonable enough, and the user reviews I’ve read suggest that it’s a decent quality product. I also appreciate that you can get it in branded ‘Supreme Red’ or with a ‘Pink Panther’ design (yes, the cartoon).
The Caseboy ships worldwide, so if it sounds like something you fancy checking out, you’ll find it available for purchase over on the official Caseboy shop.
