DuckTales: Remastered on mobile is DuckTales: Remastered, but on mobile. And if that's something you've been hankering for, then whoop-di-doo, it's probably worth a download.
Everything works pretty well, and while it's not particularly good looking there's a wonky charm to the whole experience. Plus you can jump beak-first into a pool of coins, which is irresponsible but quite entertaining.
The game is based on the classic NES platformer, and sees you controlling Scrooge McDuck through a series of bouncy levels. There's a snow one, a jungle one, a space one!
You've got a D-pad to poke Scrooge around the level, a jump button, and a pogo button that lets you kill enemies and get to higher ledges.
It's fair to say that the bones of the game underneath WayForward's polish are pretty ancient, but that works in its favour when you're playing on a touchscreen - there are less buttons and less things to go wrong.
But it also means that everything's pretty safe. It's fun, but there's an inevitability about every leap and bounce that some will find charming, and others will find grating.
There's a bit of exploration to be done, gems to pick up, and a huge veriety of mummies, ghosts, spiders, bats, and other creatures to avoid or squish.
The asking price here might be a little on the high side, and there are certainly better platforming experiences available on the App Store for a good deal less money.
But there's that old nostalgic twang, and the game runs pretty smoothly. There were a couple of on-screen button malfunctions when I played though, and one section in particular made my iPad Air chug.
If you've got a joypad for your phone or tablet then it's probably worth the extra money, but if you're intent on playing with the touchscreen then I'd probably wait for a price drop.
