Flick Knights is an intriguing upcoming mash-up of MOBA and one-finger-flicking for iOS and Android
Flick off
Flick Knights is an upcoming game that mixes simple one-touch controls with a surprisingly in-depth MOBA. There's asynchronous and slightly less asynchronous violence, and a pretty impressive cartoon swagger too.
The game sees you controlling a team of plucky sharks, otters, and raccoons, some of whom have mallets. There's a futuristic death-sport aesthetic going on, all shiny arenas and baying crowds.
Think Speedball 2 meets a Hana Barbera cartoon and you're maybe a third of the way there.
You flick them into your opponents to do some damage, or charge into the enemy base to take off some of its hit points.
The first team to destroy the opposition's base wins. Whomping players does damage to the base as well, so it's worth doling out a few hits on your way to score.
Each of the players also has its own special move. One fires out an angry red laser that destroys most things in its path, another can teleport anywhere on the board with a few taps.
Those special moves need to be charged up though, and while they can change the flow of the game, you need to use them wisely.
Flick Knights is tentatively scheduled for release on August 12th, but that could well change. We will, of course, let you know as and when we hear anything a little more concrete. It's just what we do.
