Once again, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has used the Nintendo Direct broadcast to reveal some new details for Nintendo fans.

Here are the key takeaways for 3DS owners...

In upcoming adventure The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Ninty will buck tradition and dramatically chuck out a key convention of the Zelda franchise.

You will now be able to approach dungeons in practically any order you want by buying (or renting) key items - like hammers or bow and arrows - from a special shop, run by a rabbit-looking geezer named Ravio.

The Legend of Zelda Suck it up

A new Kirby game was also shown off for 3DS. It's another classic side-scrolling platformer, where Kirby can suck up enemies to borrow their special power.

It will be available in 2014, and that's about all we know.

Sega mascot Sonic The Hedgehog will be a guest character in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, reprising his role from Wii fighter Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Sonic will join Mega Man among the list of non-Nintendo characters in this mash-up beat-'em-up.

Super Smash Bros 3DS

Speaking of which, abstract platformer Sonic Lost World will be available on October 18th in Europe. Scribblenauts Unlimited and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, meanwhile, will both be out in Europe on December 6th.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies will surface on the eShop on October 24th. A free demo for the game should be available from that very same store later today.

Though Nintendo didn't mention this in the video, The Big N did send us a follow-up email with the news that Mario Party: Island Tour has been delayed until early 2014. To be honest, I forgot this one existed.

You can watch the whole Nintendo Direct broadcast below.
