Good afternoon, my fellow 3DSers. This week's Nintendo 3DS eShop update is chock full of new Japanese games, and get this - there's actually some pretty brilliant stuff out.

Both quality and quantity feature in this week's update, including a massive release that I wasn't even aware was on the way. Talk about great marketing from Nintendo, there.

There's also some foot-to-ball, some hacking of souls, and your usual assortment of crap. A good week on the eShop, essentially.

Let's check it out.

European eShop releases

That massive release I was talking about in the intro is Inazuma Eleven 3, Lightning Bolt and Bomb Blast editions. The latest in the football-slash-RPG franchise is now available in Europe, having previously launched in Japan back in 2010.

You once again take control of Mark Evans and his team, as they look to be crowned football champions. The third in the series contains a whopping 2,000 characters to pick for your squad.

Granted, the previous two games have been a little hit and miss, but that's not to say the third won't be worth picking up. We'll have a full review next week - in the meantime, you can pick the game up for £29.99.

Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is also now available in Europe. I gave this Japanese RPG a pretty sweet review earlier this month, so it's well worth picking up. Price is £34.99.

Otherwise, the eShop has you usual baggage. FIFA 14 is out for a ridiculous £39.99, especially when you consider that it's just a rehash of last year's release with new players.

Elsewhere, Around the World with Hello Kitty and Friends is £29.99, Jewel Master Cradle Of Rome 2 is £17.99, Jewel Master Cradle Of Egypt 2 3D is £17.99, and Happy Circus is £2.69. I'd describe these, but... yeah, let's not bother.

The Virtual Console has Milon’s Secret Castle for £3.59, while Tangram Style and The Croods are on offer for £2.69 and £19.99 respectively.

US eShop releases

The US store's big release this week is Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl, the gorgeous new Japanese RPG from Atlus.

It's a remake of the original Etrian Odyssey from six years ago, with lovely new cutscenes and visuals, and voice-acting.

Everything else is a little dull though. Carps & Dragons appears to be a game about, well, fish and dragons. Meanwhile, Family Table Tennis 3D is... yeah, you get the picture.

Let's Ride: Best in Breed 3D provides our weekly horse-breeding intake, Mystery Murders: The Sleeping Palace is a casual hidden object / puzzler, and Paws & Claws: Pampered Pets Resort 3D is like the one about horses, except with dogs.

Back again next week!
