Cooking Mama 5 currently at a rolling boil, will see release in Japan this winter

The fast, frantic, and polarizing Cooking Mama franchise is almost ready to serve up another course for the 3DS.

Siliconera reports that Cooking Mama Limited has announced that Cooking Mama 5 is in development and should see a Japanese release in the winter of 2013.

There's no word on a western release just yet, but Majesco hasn't been shy about publishing Cooking Mama games for fans and masochists outside of Japan.

The Cooking Mama games star an authoritarian yet encouraging mother who guides players through the act of food preparation in the kitchen. A well-done effort will elicit a wide-eyed smile of pride from Mama, while a shoddy job at the stove will cause Mama's eyes to literally glow with fire.

Cooking Mama 5 will be the second Cooking Mama title for the 3DS, and follows the 2011 release of Cooking Mama 4 Kitchen Magic.
