iOS and Android Game of the Week - your vote needed
|

Every week, thousands of new games hit the iOS App Store and Google Play on Android. Trying to find the diamonds in the rough is no easy task, let us assure you.

We like to think we do a pretty good job with our news articles, mid-week round-ups, expert reviews, and comprehensive features, mind.

But, now we want to know what YOU think.

Every Thursday, we're going to ask you to pick the best game that was released on iOS and Android that week (from the nominations below), and then we'll present that winner in a glamorous article next Monday.

There are loads of places to vote. Leave a comment at the bottom of this article, or reply to our Game of the Week tweet, answer the poll on Facebook. Alternatively, carve your favourite's name into a nearby tree trunk, and pledge to marry it someday.

The nominations
Unmechanical (iPhone, iPad) If you want to see what the Unreal Engine is capable of when massaged by the correct fingers, check this gorgeous physics-puzzler out. The controls aren't perfect, but it contains flashes of brilliance.
Oil Rush (Android) Imagine for a moment that Kevin Coster's Waterworld was a documentary. The earth is submerged, oil is currency, and you must defend your rigs from enemy invaders. Welcome to Oil Rush.
Plasma Sky (iPhone, iPad, Android) If you like retro shooters, but find those bullet-hell shmups a little on the frantic side, then you might want to check out this neon-infused blaster. It's dead pretty, and full of character. And aliens, natch.
Ravensword: Shadowlands (iPhone, iPad, Android) The latest instalment in the ambitious open world Ravensword saga has just strode onto the Android marketplaces, bringing its giant spiders and lary dinosaurs with it. One for the Elder Scrolls fans.
Fetch (iPhone, iPad) With his dog abducted by a fire hydrant (we know, stick with us) a young boy sets out on a fantastical rescue mission to save his best friend. A cute point-n-click with top-tier visuals.
Star Wars Pinball (iPhone, iPad, Android) A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, blah blah blah [insert Jar Jar Binks reference] it's Star Wars Pinball. These sentences are now the property of Disney. Star Trek sucks.
James Gilmour
James Gilmour
James pivoted to video so hard that he permanently damaged his spine, which now doubles as a Cronenbergian mic stand. If the pictures are moving, he's the one to blame.
