Sega serves up Virtua Tennis Challenge as an Xperia Play-exclusive game

Sega scored an ace at CES 2012 last week when it unveiled a beta version of Virtua Tennis Challenge for Xperia Play.

The developer's latest foray into the world of mobile gaming promises to be a full-featured interpretation of its highly popular sports sim.

According to Sony Ericsson's blog, Virtua Tennis Challenge will offer sports fans three game modes: STP World Tour, Exhibition Match, and Multiplayer.

In Virtua Tennis Challenge, you will be able to play as one of 25 different racquet technicians, and master your backhand on a number of faithfully recreated courts from around the world.

Grand slam

Though no specific release date for Virtua Tennis Challenge has been given, this Xperia Play-exclusive sports sim is unlikely to arrive before its PS Vita counterpart Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition.

The latter is scheduled to drop on February 22nd - the same date as the Vita itself debuts in Europe and North America.
