New Square Enix RPG franchise Bravely Default for 3DS revealed at Nintendo’s pre-show conference

During his company's pre-TGS 2011 press conference, Nintendo CEO Saturo Iwata announced a brand-new RPG from the Square Enix team for 3DS, entitled Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.

Square Enix is, of course, no stranger to the RPG development scene, having churned out hits like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Tactics Ogre over the past two decades.

Now, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy may not be the most appealing or inspiring title we can think of, but with art design reminiscent of Hiroshi Minagawa's work on PSP RPG Tactics Ogre: Lets Us Cling Together and Playstation hit Vagrant Story, it definitely looks the part.

The game itself is incredibly colourful, and features the Japanese chibi character art style, similar to that seen in the DS Final Fantasy spin off The 4 Heroes of Light.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy for 3DS will be landing in 2012, though no specific date has been inked in as yet.
