Uncharted NGP not an interquel, “set before Drake’s Fortune”
Naughty Dog head “made a mistake”
After last week’s report that Uncharted NGP would be set between Drake’s Fortune and Among Thieves, the developer’s community manager Arne Meyer has confirmed that the new title will actually be set before the first Uncharted game.
"Christophe [Balestra, Naughty Dog co-president] made a mistake," Meyer explained in a post on gaming forum NeoGAF.
"[Developer] Bend Studio is really the best bet for any info related to the Uncharted NGP game, but I couldn’t help but want to jump in and mention that the NGP storyline is set sometime before Drake’s Fortune (and not a prequel)," Meyer added.
Having further suggested gamers should wait for the Uncharted NGP press campaign for more information, Meyer clarified that he was "making the distinction [because] it’s not a direct lead-in to the story of Drake’s Fortune, which many people would expect if you said 'prequel'."
It is thought Uncharted NGP will be launching alongside Sony’s latest portable, which will be released later this year.
