EA has announced that its mobile division will be taking on the classic boardgame of world domination, Risk, and will be bringing its unique flavour of global conflict to iPhone this summer.

To be fair, EA actually announced Risk way back at GDC '09, but we hadn't heard another peep about the game until today. The developer has now finished up the mobile strategy game, and will be releasing it on iPhone soon.

It features the same classic boardgame, with the age old rules and strategies, but with "an updated look and feel," which allows the game to live on in an "explosive new way." Whatever that means.

You can play single-player, battling it for world domination against a handful of AI adversaries, or go head to head with four buddies over wi-fi or Buetooth, or six players with Pass 'n Play. Doesn't sound like the game packs online battles, so you might have to stick with the Risk-inspired Generals for international rule.

EA's release date is a little vague: either 'Soon' or 'Summer 2010' - take your pick. We'll let you know when it drops, though. See the full set of screenshots in the gallery above.
