Nintendo dismisses iPad's gaming credentials
US CEO confuses with food-based metaphors
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime clearly never learned the childhood adage, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
The executive revealed that he doesn't think of the iPad or iPhone/iPod touch as a "viable platform for game development" due to the pick-up-and-play nature of most apps.
Speaking to Kotaku, Fils-Aime describes the relationship between the DS family and its games as, "a range between snacks of entertainment and full meals."
He then went on to describe Apple's platforms as "[not] even a mouthful, in terms of the gaming experience you get."
Where does that leave cross-platform titles such as Flight Control and Grand Theft Auto - in no-man's land between plates? A desolate, windswept dessert maybe?
Seeing that Nintendo DS has been losing sales to iPhone and iPod touch, perhaps people are digging the morsels being dished out by Apple.
