Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games coming to iPhone

Sega's forthcoming iPhone sports compilation Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games looks pretty decent, particularly for all you Olympian gamers out there, but it's still only four events for the ten Sega characters to play through.

These include curling, figure skating, snowboard cross and skeleton (a kind of obscure 'heads-first' toboggan thing) using a variety of touchscreen and accelerometer controls to simulate the different events.

Generally these mobile and DS iterations of the Winter Olympics have performed quite well, but the juicy gossip here is the lack of Mario in the line-up.

It's not entirely surprising that the Italian plumber is refusing to attend the Winter Olympics on iPhone, given the rivalry between Apple and Nintendo in the handheld market, but it still comes across as kinda haughty.

Anyway, Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is expected to land on the App Store in the New Year, and you can probably expect to pay close to full price. These licenses don't come cheap, even if some of them have take their snowboard home in a huff.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
