We’ve been anticipating this for a while, but finally the third release in Tapulous’ multi-million Tap Tap Revenge music rhythm game is now out.

It brings the franchise up to date thanks to the ability to download news tracks, as well as providing online play, such as challenges and battles, and push notifications so you can send messages to your friends.

However, this means that your iPhone or iPod touch will have to have upgraded to the OS 3.0 in order to play the game.

It certainly seems to be worth it.

You get to create your own avatar and which is used in online play and is how you display your achievements and progress.

In terms of the downloadable content, you can buy band-oriented track packs which cost S2.99 for 6 songs and 99c for two.

The most popular at launch were Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, Korn and Marilyn Manson.

Over 100 free tracks are available including those from AFI, Bassnectar, BMD and The Photo Atlas.

You can also get avatar items, such as clothes and instruments, which you can either purchase using real money or the in-game gold coins.

Tap Tap Revenge 3 is available now priced 99c, €0.79 or 99c. Hit the Buy It! button to go to the App Store.

Alternatively, if you want to wait, there should be a free ad-supported version out before too long.
