It’s been announced at GameCom that Lego Rock Band will be making its way to Nintendo DS for ‘holiday 2009’ (that’s Christmas to us UK lot).

The intriguing brand fusion will allow you to customise your band by swapping out the parts of each minifigure, just like when you used to make space pirates and police knights as a kid. Maybe that was just me.

There’ll be no dodgy peripherals for this version, so you’ll be able to play each of the parts - vocal, guitar, bass and drums - on the DS touchscreen or via the standard controls. What’s more, you’ll be able to hook up with three buddies thanks to a wireless multiplayer mode.

Which could be quite disruptive if you’re all on a bus at the time. Remember, kids: earphones are good.

The all-important song list for the game is looking a little something like this:

Kaiser Chiefs: "Ruby"

The Automatic: "Monster"

Ray Parker Jr.: "Ghostbusters"

Tom Petty: "Free Fallin'"

Jackson 5: "I Want You Back"

Vampire Weekend: "A-Punk"

Blur: "Song 2"

Carl Douglas: "Kung Fu Fighting"

Europe: "The Final Countdown"

Good Charlotte: "Girls & Boys"

Pink: "So What"

Counting Crows: "Accidentally in Love"

Sum 41: "In Too Deep"
