Chillingo's always good to keep an eye on if you're looking for innovative iPhone games, and a sack full of gaming news hit our virtual doormat this morning from the UK-based publisher.

First and foremost, its side scrolling cut-out shoot-'em-up Inkvaders has just blasted its way onto the App Store. We ran a preview of the game just last week, and found the unique visual style and hyperactive gameplay very appealing.

Speccy fans out there might appreciate the notion that Inkvaders has something of a Freddy Hardest vibe (massively updated, of course) with a terrific Paddington Bear aesthetic that really makes it leap off the screen.

And if you're in a mood to chill(ingo) out with some iPhone freebies, the futuristic cyber shooter Circuit_Strike.One now has a Lite version available to tempt you into the far reaches of cyberspace in a 'Geometry Wars meets Asteroids' 2.5D shmup.

And to finish there is some quite exciting news for underfed iPhone beat-'em-up fans ( such as me sen'). Chillingo's popular castle defends game Knights Onrush is due to land itself a spin-off freebie game, in which you take command of one of the onrushing knights in a 2D side scrolling brawler.

The App Store is distinctly lacking when it comes to classical 2D beat-'em-ups, and judging by the video below, Quest for Knights Onrush does a pretty splendid job of recreating that long forgotten genre.

This demo version is apparently being used to gauge how well a full, premium version would be likely to perform on the App Store, so keep them out for it and make sure you download it at least twice - I want the full game.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
