Nintendo promises weekly DSiWare updates

In a pseudo-tearful farewell edition of its Wii-kly Update newsletter, Nintendo announced it’s actually rebranding the corporate rag to include updates from the DSi Shop, which goes live on Friday with the launch of the new handheld console.

It also casually drops in that the DSi download service will be receiving weekly updates just as the Wii online store does.

“Like the Wii Shop Channel, the Nintendo DSi Shop will offer a growing library of downloadable games, with new titles added every week.”

So far it’s looking as though DSiWare will be the console’s saviour, since other reasons to upgrade from the DS Lite are thin on the ground.

But the promise of downloadable games and applications is a strong draw for the Nintendo crowd, and weekly updates would be a significant part of that appeal.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
