Fresh from its success turning '80s film Scarface into a multi-format gaming bloodbath, Vivendi is turning its hand to the Ghostbusters franchise. Which, we'd say is about ten times more thrilling.

Especially as we've learnt the game will feature the likeness rights and voice of the full Ghostbusters team: Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis.

Original film writers Aykroyd and Ramis will even be penning the story for the game, which takes place in the early '90s, shortly after Ghostbusters II, during an fresh invasion of ghouls in New York City. You take the role of a new ghostbusting recruit with access to all of the gadgets so memorably used in the films – so expect the tether gun, stasis trap, Ghost Light and PKE Meter, to name a selection.

Few other details of the game (which is also coming to home consoles and PC) have been released but it will obviously incorporate elements of both of the films. And surely there's plenty of scope for stylus controlled crossing of streams and ghost trapping?

The vague release date confirmed so far is autumn 2008. We'll be bringing you plenty more news on Ghostbusters between now and then, though, so be sure to click 'Track It!' so stay updated on what's already one of our most wanted games for next year.
