Alcyone: The Last City is out now on iOS and Android, challenging you with tough choices
  • Alcyone: The Last City tasks you with taking on tough choices
  • In the last city on earth what you do can spell the difference between success and disaster
  • Build your own character and experience seven different endings

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine! Well, in the case of Alcyone: The Last City you most likely don't, because this post-apocalyptic sci-fi visual novel is all about the hard choices in the last city on Earth. Out now on Android and iOS, your choices in Alcyone could spell the difference between resurgence and disaster for humanity.

Boasting a 250K word script and multiple endings, Alcyone naturally sells itself on the old chestnut of having innumerable routes and choices that can lead you to different consequences. You'll also be able to customise and build your own character with differing statistics, RPG-style, that could change what kind of choices you make and achieve.

Numbers-wise, Alcyone certainly has plenty to experience, with seven different endings, five romance paths and thousands of other choices that promise to provide distinctive and entertaining playthroughs. With plenty of space for replayability and making other choices, which is always a must for story-based visual novels.

While you can download Alcyone from your nearest iOS App Store with relative ease, you'll want to check itch.io to find the Android version. In terms of the story and replayability, it's always tough to judge these without having played them (and even then sometimes truly dense visual novels require dozens of hours) but a 250k-word script and seven endings certainly sound impressive.

Regardless, for an indie release, and a relatively light asking price I'd say that if you're interested you should certainly give Alcyone: The Last City a glance.

However if you want to try another indie release that's totally different, why not dig into some of our reviews? Songs of Conquest is a 2.5D, HOMM-like turn-based fantasy strategy game, with different factions and a decidedly non-apocalyptic (mostly) theme.
