Thanks to a bedrock consisting of baseball games, RPGs and virtual item sales, Korean mobile game publishers are among some of the most profitable games companies in the world.

But that doesn't mean they aren't also looking to tap into the 99c casual iPhone genre.

Com2uS has been successful with its Slice It! game - 10 million downloads across paid, free, iOS and Android to-date. Now arch rival Gamevil is looking to get into the pick-up-and-play thang with Air Penguin; developed by Enter Fly.

Wrist action

Guess what? You play a bouncy penguin, who you have to guide through icy perils, avoiding the wide, sharp jaws of sharks, and collapsing ice islands, while sliding along ice flows - just using the power of tilt.

Yes, a sort of horizontal version of Doodle Jump, and just as smooth, there are 100 stages to bounce your penguin through. There's also a Survival mode if you're of a competitive bent.

Adding an another layer to your progress, you use the fish you collect as a sort of in-app currency to unlock special features. There are 39 achievements to be gained via Game Center.

Air Penguin is available now for iPhone and iPod touch, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
