Hello and welcome to Ahead of the Game, a series where we tell you all about an upcoming game that, despite not being out yet, is available for you to play at the time of publishing. Through this series, you can grab a chance to play games well ahead of their release date, be that through Soft Launch, Open Beta, Demos, or more.
Cosy vibes and lovely animation are all that's needed to catch my attention these days, and if there's one thing that Netflix's Spirit Crossing does really well at first glance, it's piquing my interest.

Essentially, you'll wander into a fuzzy world where humans and spirits overlap, and with the borders between these two existences now blurred, you can walk among the spirits as a lost but excited adventurer.
Honestly, the aesthetics here alone are enough to keep me hooked, so the adorable spirits you meet along the way are simply the cherry on top. You'll need to help them out with a variety of requests, whether that's feeding a mother ghost with some fresh mushrooms or freeing a rectangular bear from a bucket (my favourite side-quest so far).

The aforementioned bear is, of course, part of the narrative, as he'll eventually end up being your beloved Roomie and help you decorate your humble abode with little trinkets. It helps that he's incredibly funny too, so I should really be thankful that a storm got him stranded here with only me as his saviour.
As you stumble upon other spirits in your journey, you'll collect Spirit Energy that you need to unlock certain elements in the MMO-slash-life sim, as well as boost Friendship Bond Levels with them as you go along.
It's all incredibly charming, wholesome, and feel-good-vibes-inducing, and if I'm going to get stuck between universes and end up lost in a different world, this place definitely doesn't seem so bad.
So, how do you play Spirit Crossing?
Thankfully, anyone can dive into this magical new world thanks to its ongoing Alpha test. Of course, you'll need a Netflix account to join, but after that's sorted, it's all a matter of downloading it from Google Play or clicking the Testflight link on iOS.And while I did encounter a few bugs and screen freezes from time to time, they certainly didn't stop me from enjoying myself within this colourful sim.
