Ace Racer recently showcased its technological advancement at GDC 2023
A couple of weeks ago, NetEase Games launched the next-gen high-octane racer for mobile, titled Ace Racer. It took the genre by storm as the game had hit one million pre-registrations and then went on to amass the same number of downloads in just five days after release. Ace Racer was showcased at the Game Developers Conference between March 20th and 24th, where they demonstrated the technological advancement achieved.
Ace Racer delivers an exceptionally high-quality racing experience and the numbers do a good job of representing that. Games that a fair while to get to a million downloads, a feat that barely took time for Ace Racer to achieve. The developers have made the best of both worlds, giving players the latest technologies and techniques for the most immersive gameplay feel.
At the event, the developers spoke of how such photorealism is possible in mobile games and the challenges associated with it. They delivered a presentation which focussed on how to strike a balance between visuals and performance and the optimization of the entire process.
The game really fits the bill when explaining such aspects as it runs at 90fps while still offering console-like graphics thanks to techniques such as pipeline rendering and vehicle scene optimization. In addition to all this, the developers are also constantly taking feedback from players and finding areas to improve on.
