Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion cleared for take off on iPhone and iPod Touch

Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion is now available for download from the App Store.

Announced in late September during Tokyo Game Show, the game marks the franchise's debut on iPhone and iPod Touch where it continues the story of Aurelian fighter pilots defending their homeland from invading forces.

The game makes good use of the accelerometer with an array of options that let you tweak the level of control you have over pitch and roll, as well as the camera perspective.

You might be disappointed to learn Skies of Incursion only comes with single player modes, the Campaign serving as the main course followed by a Free Mission mode that draws scenarios from the campaign.

Namco has not announced any intention to release multiplayer as an update, however that could - and hopefully will - change.

As consolation, Namco has opted for a pretty reasonable price: £2.99/$4.99. There are also airplanes you can buy within the game at 59p/99c a pop.

We're working on a review, but until it's ready check out our hands-on preview to get a sense of what to expect.
