Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel release date and everything else you need to know

It's been a while since Yugi Mutou finally managed to solve the ancient Millennium Puzzle, hasn't it? A lot of things happened since the day Yami challenged Ushio to a Shadow Game. When a few years later, KONAMI finally announced their new Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG), all of us who had watched the epic duels between Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba, jumped right into it! We couldn't wait to get the newly released cards in our hands. It was time to duel!

History of Yu-Gi-Oh video games

The first Yu-Gi-Oh video games on the PlayStation and Game Boy might not have been amazing, but they did help so many people learn the basics of the new card game. But, if you wanted to have a proper duelling experience and test your skills, taking part in local tournaments was your only option, pretty much.

That changed In April 2005 when KONAMI released the first Yu-Gi-Oh! Online for PC. Finally, we had a game that would allow us to duel against players from all around the world. We could open packs to acquire the latest cards, trade with other players, and enter online tournaments and events. It was everything we could ask for at the time. The game received two major updates in 2007 and 2010, but suddenly, in 2012, KONAMI announced that they were shutting down the game servers. I don't think anyone ever understood why they did.

Anyway, we had to wait a decade, but finally, KONAMI decided to correct their mistake with the release of Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel.

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel cards

Yes, luckily Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL is free-to-play, with in-game purchases available. You can purchase Gems with currency, but you can also earn Gems by playing the game and completing challenges.

Does Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel support crossplay?

Yes, this game supports cross-platform play. That means, if you are on your Nintendo Switch, you can duel against others who are playing from PC, Xbox, or any other system.

I enjoy playing games ever since I was a kid (which was a long long time ago at this point). Everything started with an Atari 65XE. Then came an Amiga 500+, a Sega Genesis, a 386, a Playstation, a Playstation 2 and so on. Anyway, you get the idea. I consider myself lucky to be able to experience the gaming evolution throughout the years. This is my passion, and what I will continue to do for as long as I can.
