Swedish indie outfit Simogo - creator of Beat Sneak Bandit and Bumpy Road - will launch its new game, Year Walk, on iPhone and iPad at midnight tonight.

Year Walk is a first-person adventure game, set in a frosty forest in 19th-century Sweden. The game revolves around the eponymous year walk, a ritualistic vision quest where you get a glimpse at the future.

To progress through the game, you need to solve logic puzzles and other escape-the-room style conundrums. We recommend you get yourself a notepad in preparation, as jotting down clues and symbols is a big part of this game.

Year Walk

Unlike the candy-coloured cartoon graphics in Simogo's previous games, Year Walk's visuals are dark and disturbing. Yes, folks, this is a seriously spooky game. It's all possessed dolls, ghostly spinsters, horses in suits, and goats in coats.

Alongside the main game, Simogo is launching a free Year Walk companion app, which serves as a mini-encyclopaedia for the game's folklore and fiction. It also holds some secrets when used in conjunction with the main game.

We'll have a full review of Year Walk up on the site tomorrow. It's safe to say, though, that if you dig clever puzzlers like The Room or atmospheric wander-'em-ups like Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery and Fez, you need this game in your life.

We'll also publish a comprehensive guide to the game - in both text and video forms - as soon as the game goes live. So, if you get stuck, you know where to look.

Year Walk will be available on the UK and US App Stores at around midnight as a Universal app for iPhone and iPad. It will cost you £2.49 / $3.99, and possibly a new pair of trousers.
