BlazBlue visual novel XBlaze Code: Embryo coming to North America this summer

Just 24 hours after it confirmed that BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma would come to Vitas (and PS3s) in North America this summer, Aksys also confirmed that XBlaze Code: Embryo will arrive in the same timeframe.

Unlike other BlazBlue games, XBlaze Code: Embryo is a visual novel that places a deeper emphasis on story and reading than it does on combos and aerial moves.

Set 150 years prior to the events in the BlazBlue universe, Code: Embryo features a complex storyline with an innovative path selection system - meaning, you won't be led by the nose from start to finish here.

Deep blue… something

Unassuming high school student Touya Kagari takes the lead in the story of Code: Embryo and quickly he finds himself swept up in events much bigger than his normal life when he's attacked out of the blue.

A mysterious girl called Es appears to protect him, and then lets slip that she's going to be his bodyguard from then on as her mission is to protect him.

As to who gave Es that mission, well... you'll just have to experience Code: Embryo yourself to find out.

Aksys hasn't confirmed when exactly BlazBlue Code: Embryo will arrive, but it did assure fans that it'll feature multiple endings - including a gag one.

We'll keep you updated with a firm release date for Code: Embryo - or news of a European release - as soon as we have it to report.
