Pot for mobile glory in World Pool Championship

I-play signs up for some hot cue action

Pot for mobile glory in World Pool Championship

It's a bit weird how us Brits prefer watching snooker on TV to pool, since when we're choosing which game to actually play, pool wins out every time. We suspect it's because you can play pool down the pub, rather than having to schlep to a snooker hall.

Anyway, I-play is hoping to capitalise on our booze-fuelled sporting prowess with World Pool Championship, a fully licensed new mobile game that sees you battling it out at the world's most prestigious pool tournament.

There'll be two versions available – a 2D game and a 3D game – and real pool players will be featured in both. Not that you'll recognise many of them, of course. Phil Harrison, Neil Raybone and Chris Melling, anyone? Thought not. It looks like the game could be an education for us Brits.

Developer Blade Interactive is even using motion-captured animation to make sure the players look just right, so World Pool Championship should be one of the most visually appealing mobile games around when it comes out.
