Final Fantasy Tactics director teams up with Playdek to create two new games heading to iOS and Android

Yasumi Matsuno is best known for directing Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story at Level-5, the studio that he left last year. He was last mentioned on Pocket Gamer for directing Bronze Award-winning Crimson Shroud.

Now, Matsuno has teamed up with Playdek to create the world of Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians.

Matsuno has created the medieval fantasy world of Rasfalia for the Unsung Story games to take place in. Here, knights, wizards, archers and magical creatures roam and battle in a half-century long war.

The Unsung Story franchise will yield two games currently, both of which will head for iOS and Android devices.

The first is an online digital card game to be released in 2014, and co-designed by renowned board game designer, Christophe Boelinger. It'll be a typical card battler with two online players. It serves to introduce the world of Rasfalia that the Unsong Story franchise is based within.

The second game is Unsung Story: Tales of the Guardians, and sees Matsuno return to tactics-based battle systems as with Final Fantasy Tactics. You won't be fighting large armies, as the focus is on small numbers of combatants.

Joystiqreports that, In Tales of the Guardians, instead of being based around a main character as with Tactics, you'll pick a country and leader to play as. There will also be online PvP.

Tales of the Guardians will arrive sometime after the Unsung Story card battling game.
