Uncharted studio Naughty Dog working on PSP game? [Update]
Getting hot under the collar
[Update: Ben Weston has told Pocket Gamer that the Naughty Dog PSP project on his CV is actually R&D work on Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier.]
The creative geniuses over at Naughty Dog may well be concocting a version of the acclaimed Uncharted series for Sonys handheld console.
According to Ben Weston, an ex-programmer for the US-based studio, an unnamed action game with release date TBA for the PSP was being developed during his time at the company.
Mr Weston's LinkedIn profile also reveals that he had previously been involved in the development of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for PS3, so his words shouldn't be taken lightly.
To further lend credence to the story, Naughty Dogs co-president Evan Wells did discuss the potential for Uncharted on PSP to Joystiq in March:
"It would be fantastic to see the game (move) onto a handheld system. Each one of the episodes is sort of like a standalone...If we can find a partner to work with, I'd love to do that."
Mr Wells also examined the possibility of a portable adaptation of Nathan Drake's epic quest way back in November of last year.
As with all the rumours currently circulating around the PSP platform, a pinch of salt is required, of course.
Hopefully, at either E3 or Gamescom in the summer all, or at least something, will be revealed.
PSP 2 to launch with Uncharted, anyone...?
