  • Tribe Nine, the upcoming "extreme" ARPG will hold its first PC beta in August
  • The game, from creator Kazutaka Kodaka, is also coming to mobile
  • It centres around violent street crime that is resolved by playing an extreme form of baseball

Upcoming "extreme" ARPG Tribe Nine, from the creator of Danganronpa Kazutaka Kodaka and developer Akatsuki & Took Kyo Games, will hold its first PC beta on August 9th. The game will, fortunately, also be making its way to mobile. However, we don't yet have any news on a potential beta on that front.

Tribe Nine is set in a dystopian future Neo-Tokyo where gangs of youths have formed violent tribes. To curb them the government institutes the XB Law which aims to resolve any disputes through the playing of "Extreme Baseball", which is exactly what it sounds like.

It's also directed by Kazutaka Kodaka, who certain fans will remember from hit PSP and later PC visual novel series Danganronpa, a major breakout hit in the West. The designs also seem to be inspired by the work of Rui Komatsuzaki, who provided character designs for the Danganronpa series, alongside fellow artist Shimadoriru.

The question of whether Tribe Nine will be good depends heavily on how well you gel with Kazutaka Kodaka's themes and usually quite dystopic settings. Although it's easy to chuckle at the idea of extreme baseball being used to settle gang disputes, we don't doubt there will be some darker moments from the creator of Danganronpa.

As for a mobile beta, we wouldn't expect one until near the end of the year. Although it's clear Tribe Nine is accelerating forward since this beta also includes their new creator program.
