Your iOS or Android Game of the Week: Trial of the Clone

One of our jobs here at Pocket Gamer is to sieve through the hundreds of apps that hit the App Store and Google Play every single day, and unearth those glittering gems.

Lately, though, we've been giving you the chance to have YOUR say, too. Basically, we've been giving you the opportunity to tell us your favourite game from a shortlist of the week's best releases.

This week's votes have been counted (and recounted), and we have a winner: Trial of the Clone.

Trial of the Clone is the latest interactive gamebook from Australian developer Tin Man Games - the studio responsible for Fighting Fantasy: House of Hell and plenty of other Pocket Gamer Award-winning apps.

In this book, you're a clone. You're not like your clone brothers, though. You have a special mission to complete. Make good decisions, and you'll be a hero. Make bad decisions, and you'll be dead.

As always, you can carve your very own path through this interactive book's narrative.

You can choose which direction to travel in. You can choose who you talk to. You can even choose whether or not to grab a weapon and head into a battle that you may - ultimately - lose.

Clone wars

Trial of the Clone is penned by Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal writer Zach Weinersmith, and narrated - if you wish - by the legendary Wil Wheaton, who played Ensign Crusher in the first four seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

At review, we described Trial of the Clone as "a hilariously entertaining new addition to the gamebook genre", and noted that it's "a brilliant way to spend a rainy afternoon" indoors.

You can grab it from the App Store for £2.49 / $3.99 [buy] or from Google Play for £2.99 [buy].
