Chris Sawyer's old school sim Transport Tycoon will stop at the iOS and Android platforms on October 3rd

Chris Sawyer has just announced (over the tannoy, presumably) that his old school simulation Transport Tycoon will be pulling into the App Store and Google Play stations on October 3rd.

Originally released for PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC back in 1994, Transport Tycoon featured cutting-edge technology that enabled its creator to deliver a simulation experience that people hadn't seen before.

Sawyer has overseen the development of this new premium mobile version of Transport Tycoon, and he couldn't be happier.

Next stop: Mobile Platforms 1 and 2

"I'm delighted that we are able to bring Transport Tycoon to mobile devices and tablets and I hope that players of the original PC games - as well as people who have never played the original - will thoroughly enjoy the rejuvenated game on a platform it suits so well," Sawyer says.

"It's been quite a challenge for the Origin8 development team to re-write the game from scratch and adapt it to the smaller touchscreen interface, but the result is probably one of the most extensive and intricate games currently available for mobile platforms."

October 3rd - mark in it your diaries, folks.
