All aboard for these Train Conductor World tips and tricks

If you've been keeping an eye on the App Store lately, you'll likely have noticed the adorable looking Train Conductor World.

It's a game about directing colourful locomotives around in a Flight Control-esque manner.

You may also have noticed that Train Conductor World is a bit bloody difficult, particularly if you're gunning for all three stars in each town.

Well, fear not, as we're here with a few tips and tricks to help you get back on track. Train tracks. It's a joke, see. Never mind.

Never stop

The basic premise in each level of Train Conductor World is to direct each train onto the correct track by drawing a line from the train to the path you want it to be on.

The problem is that you can easily start sending trains on direct collision courses, and you'll need to adjust the speed of your trains to make sure you don't cause an almighty crash.

You can simply stop a train dead in its tracks by tapping it, but doing so costs you that train's star, preventing you from scoring 100% on a level.

Instead, hold your finger on the train. This causes the train to slow down to a complete halt without losing its star, allowing you to wait until danger has cleared before letting your locomotive go back on its way.

Get hands-on

But what if you've got several trains about to crash at once, and need to direct other trains while it's all going on?

Easy - you can just use your other fingers. It's never explicitly stated in the tutorial that you can do this, but you can actually slow down trains and direct others simultaneously.

Make sure you have both hands free when playing so you can take control of as many trains as possible and make quick decisions to avoid missing out on the ever-important stars.

And turn the sound on while you're playing. Each train has a different set of whistle noises, and these can tell you which train is coming next before you see it, allowing you to plan ahead even more effectively.

Make the right connections

On the map you'll find ports that generate up to 60 coins every 2 and a half hours for every city directly connected to it.

Make sure you make these direct connections, as these coins are the key to unlocking new pieces of track, and the huge rewards make the collection process a cinch.

You can connect up to six cities to the port, but you may have noticed that each location only has four connecting points.

If you want to connect all six, you'll need to use a split piece to make a connection. Those are the ones that have both a curved track and straight track. Connect both lines and you can reap both rewards.

Use your track wisely

As well as collecting coins to get pieces of track, you can recycle old tracks that no longer contribute anything to the network, freeing up space on the map and giving you more pieces to play with.

For example, very early on you'll be asked to connect Mons with Bruges, and once you've beaten Bruges, you'll connect that with Amsterdam.

You'll then want to connect Amsterdam to Mons for the previously mentioned monetary reward, but that leaves you with a track from Mons to Bruges that's not contributing anything.

Rip it up. You can tap and drag pieces of track back into your inventory and re-use it for later tracks, saving you a lot of time unlocking more pieces through play.
