Death at the hands of Sam Fisher just hours away

Splinter Cell: Conviction iPhone fails to conceal arrival on the New Zealand App Store

Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher has made a career out of sneaking up to people very carefully and ripping out their brains.

He's failed to sneak up on the iPhone, however, as he's been spotted all the way over in New Zealand. This means we can be fairly certain he'll be arriving on the UK App Store at midnight tonight. Some spook.

Splinter Cell: Conviction was originally due to appear alongside the console release in April, but delays have seen it slip further and further behind its big brother.

The iPhone version of Conviction is a third-person over-the-shoulder affair built on the same engine Gameloft used for Terminator Salvation. Like the console original it contains elements of sneaking and elements of brazen shooting, though when Tracy played it at GDC in March the balance between these wasn't quite right, with shooting being vastly inferior to sneaking.

Hopefully the delays means that Gameloft has spent some time tweaking and refining. We'll – and by extension you'll - know for sure tomorrow.

It's $13.99 on the NZ App Store, which should translate to about £5.99 in the UK.
