A little later than expected, mysterious puzzler The Room is almost ready to open its doors to iPad owners.

The game is so mysterious, in fact, that it's tough to pin down exactly what it is. Physics-puzzler? Exploration game? Horror fable? The trailer (below) hints at all three.

One thing's for sure: it's a handsome game. So handsome, in fact, that it won't run on anything less than an iPad 2. Sorry, first-gen iPad owners.

Created by Fireproof Games - sister company of Fireproof Studios - The Room promises "a mind-bending journey filled with peril, beauty, and mystery". Much like Finding Nemo, then.

We can also tell you that the game revolves around ornate puzzle boxes (like the one pictured above), the contents of which must be uncovered if you are to make sense of your strange situation.

If you think you've got what it takes to unlock the secrets of The Room, you can download it tomorrow for £2.99 / $4.99.
