When it comes to Nintendo hardware I think we'd all be hard-pressed not to say there are some great releases that never quite caught on. Usually because they broke the family-oriented mould, or because they were simply too weird. And I think that today's subject, out now on iOS and Android, with The New Denpa Men falls into the latter category.

The New Denpa Men is a bizarre-looking but surprisingly straightforward mix of AR creature catcher and turn-based RPG. Essentially, think of something like Pokemon Go mixed with Dragon Quest; which makes it an interesting predecessor of the format that never made it to mobile, until now.

In The New Denpa Men, you're tasked with catching the titular airwave-dwelling creatures and pressing them into battle in a classic JRPG. Explore the overworld, leap into battles and defeat both regular enemies and powerful bosses, all while playing strange minigames along the way and exploring all the weirdness that New Denpa Men encourages.

The New Denpa Men promises various accoutrements for its mobile release, including new event stages and the Voucher Collection mechanic. And the best part? It's also cross-compatible! So if you've already played New Denpa Men over on the Nintendo Switch you can transfer over your saved data too.

It all presents a pretty compelling package, and with it available worldwide now, it may be the time for those of you who skipped it the first time around to finally give The New Denpa Men a go!

But if they still aren't swaying you, don't fret. Instead, why not dig into some of our reviews to check out other new releases you might not otherwise have heard of? For example, Jack Brassell recently jumped into EvoCreo 2 to see what this creature-collecting RPG has to offer!
