The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past may get 3D treatment

Nintendo wants us to get 'a sense for the depth of those worlds'

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past may get 3D treatment

The best game on the Nintendo 3DS right now is a remake of the classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, while Starfox 64 3D was also an absolutely blinder.

No doubt Nintendo has watched the success of these 3D remakes and thought, "What else can we give the 3D treatment to?" - and if a new interview with producer Eiji Aonuma is anything to go by, there may well be more Zelda remakes in the future.

Talking to Games Radar, Aonuma said, "Well actually, even Mr. Miyamoto [Mario and Zelda creator] himself has been talking recently about going back to the 2D Zelda games.

"In particular the ones that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds.

"That's something that might be interesting to do, so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future," he concluded.

It's far from a confirmation, but it at least sounds like we'll be seeing lots more classic Nintendo titles getting the 3D treatment.
