Chopper and Chopper 2 creator David Frampton has revealed to Touch Arcade that he's currently working on a Minecraft-inspired 2D title for iOS called The Blockheads.

In spite of the forthcoming title's inspiration, though, Frampton has been quick to state that The Blockheads takes a different approach to the features it shares with Mojang's hit.

For example, both games allow you to craft new items, but Frampton's offering let's you do this in multiple locations and without the need for recipes.

"Instead of needing to know recipes and being able to craft everything in one location, there are many different kinds of workbenches, each with a handful of items they can craft," he said.

"The crafting interface lists what is required and describes what the crafted item can do. This creates a technology tree of sorts, easing the player into the game, and slowly making more advanced items available."

The Blockheads is being developed from the ground up specifically for touchscreen devices like the iPhone. Like a lot of iOS games these days, it'll allow you to buy in-game currency for real-world cash.

However, you can also earn this premium currency throughout the game and it's purportedly not needed to enjoy the upcoming title.

We'll let you know as soon as we hear any other details.
