You're gonna have to get a microSD to play The Banner Saga Trilogy on Switch

According to the box art, physical copies of The Banner Saga Trilogy on Switch will still need you to download some content and have a microSD card installed.

We don't yet know how big the file size will be, but since you need a microSD we can assume it will be around the Switch’s hard drive size of 32GB. There are Switch-specific SD cards now available, but it's not ideal for those who’d rather not fork out the extra cash so they can play the game.

I hate to be the bearer of more bad news, but it also appears as though folks on Switch will be getting the trilogy a little later than on other consoles. The Amazon release date indicates that the game will be out for the Switch on the 21st of September, while on other consoles it'll be out on the 27th of July.

If you'd rather not wait then you'll be able to buy each individual entry in the series when the third game is released on the 24th, but that will undoubtedly end up being more expensive.

This news shouldn’t deter you from playing the series though. They are really fantastic turn-based strategy games, set in a beautiful fantasy world with impressive rotoscoping animation. If you're curious about the series then you should definitely read our reviews for the first and second game.

The Banner Saga 3 will be available on the Nintendo eShop on the 24th of July and physical copies of the full trilogy will be in stores on the 21st of September.
