Tales of Wind: Radiant Birth is back with revamped look and mechanics in 2025 rerelease

A refreshing breeze

Tales of Wind: Radiant Birth is back with revamped look and mechanics in 2025 rerelease
  • Tales of Wind: Radiant Rebirth is out now on iOS and Android
  • It reboots and revamps the original Tales of Wind
  • The original is still playable (including cross-progression) but the new version has improved mechanics and more

Tales of Wind fans have had a tough time of it lately as their favourite release briefly went offline. This hit MMORPG has millions of devout players, so why would it choose to forsake them? Well, how about a new release with graphical, gameplay and mechanical improvements that's available right now?

Previously released more than five years ago, Tales of Wind: Radiant Rebirth joins a growing list of long-running releases choosing to reboot and remake themselves rather than forge a sequel. This new release doesn't supplant the original, which you can still play with cross-progression, but it does boast revamped visuals, engine improvements and some mechanics you'll need to play the new version to enjoy.

As for the gameplay, Tales of Wind: Radiant Rebirth is (or so the developers claim) basically the same game just with a ton of improvements. And given the vast differences in technical capabilities between phones back in 2020ish, these improvements will likely be quite clear to players.

Aside from mechanical improvements, there's also plenty of new content, likely intended to take advantage of these improvements. You can explore the new underwater world, for example, or enjoy new custom outfits to really make your character stand out.

It's interesting to see so many long-running releases clearly take the angle that players really want to have long-term support and continuous improvements. Of course,e this is mainly specific to the RPG genre (how long has WoW been running again?), but across the board mobile players no longer seem content to settle for merely optimised graphics.
