Konami announces Suikoden is coming to DS
All-new online elements planned for Suikoden: Tierkreis

Konami has announced the latest game in its lengthy and highly acclaimed Suikoden series will be released on DS. Suikoden: Tierkreis marks the franchise's debut on the handheld, and will use the console's wi-fi capabilities to deliver all-new online elements.
The RPG has been going since 1995, when the first Suikoden launched in Japan. More than ten games have been released since then, on various formats, although not all of them have made it to European shores.
Konami promises the latest game on DS will feature the same deep storyline and grand adventure seen in previous instalments - in fact, it says it will "expand the bounds of the handheld RPG." Whatever that means.
The game's cinematic story centres on the 108 Stars of Destiny, who are battling to defeat the powerful One King. For the first time, players begin with the last three members of the Stars of Destiny and are tasked with resurrecting the other 104. Which sounds like it could take a while.
Over wi-fi, the game will deliver a rich online community experience which lets players send their characters on quests that other members of the community can complete for them, then return the player to their party with new abilities and treasures.
Screenshots of the game are yet to emerge, and a release date is undetermined. It does appear the game will be getting a worldwide release though - or at the very least that it's coming to North America as well as Japan.
